Mint Julep

Ingredients
2 oz. | Bourbon |
.25 oz. | Simple Syrup (or Powdered Sugar and Water) |
8 | Mint Leaves |
2 Dashes | Aromatic Bitters (Optional) |
Directions
Add the Mint Leaves and Simple Syrup to a Silver Cup
Muddle the Mint Leaves
Add the Bourbon and some Ice
Stir till Combined
Top with a Dome of Crushed Ice
Garnish with a Straw, Mint Sprig and the Aromatic Bitters
The Mint Julep originated in the 1700's in the southern United States. Originally it was used as a medicine. Eventually, in 1900's, the drink became synonymous with the Kentucky Derby. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
