Mint Julep

Ingredients

2 oz.

Bourbon

.25 oz.

Simple Syrup (or Powdered Sugar and Water)

8

Mint Leaves

2 Dashes

Aromatic Bitters (Optional)

Directions

  1. Add the Mint Leaves and Simple Syrup to a Silver Cup

  2. Muddle the Mint Leaves

  3. Add the Bourbon and some Ice

  4. Stir till Combined

  5. Top with a Dome of Crushed Ice

  6. Garnish with a Straw, Mint Sprig and the Aromatic Bitters



The Mint Julep originated in the 1700's in the southern United States. Originally it was used as a medicine. Eventually, in 1900's, the drink became synonymous with the Kentucky Derby. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
