Ward 8

Ingredients

2 oz.

Rye Whiskey

.5 oz.

Orange Juice

.5 oz.

Lemon Juice

.25 oz.

Grenadine

Directions

  1. Combine all the Ingredients into a Cocktail Shaker with Ice

  2. Shake for 15 Seconds

  3. Double Strain into a Cocktail Glass or Nick & Nora

  4. Garnish with 2 Cocktail Cherries



The Ward 8 (or Ward Eight) is a riff on the Whiskey Sour. The drink was invented in 1898 at restaurant Locke-Ober in Boston, Massachusetts.

Mint Julep

Ingredients

2 oz.

Bourbon

.25 oz.

Simple Syrup (or Powdered Sugar and Water)

8

Mint Leaves

2 Dashes

Aromatic Bitters (Optional)

Directions

  1. Add the Mint Leaves and Simple Syrup to a Silver Cup

  2. Muddle the Mint Leaves

  3. Add the Bourbon and some Ice

  4. Stir till Combined

  5. Top with a Dome of Crushed Ice

  6. Garnish with a Straw, Mint Sprig and the Aromatic Bitters



The Mint Julep originated in the 1700's in the southern United States. Originally it was used as a medicine. Eventually, in 1900's, the drink became synonymous with the Kentucky Derby. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.

Sidecar

Ingredients

2 oz.

Cognac (Brandy)

.75 oz.

Triple Sec

.75 oz.

Lemon Juice

Directions

  1. Sugar the Rim of a Cocktail Glass or Nick & Nora

  2. Combine all the Ingredients into a Cocktail Shaker with Ice

  3. Shake for 15 Seconds

  4. Double Strain into the Sugared Glass

  5. Garnish with an Orange Peel



The Sidecar is named after the motorcycle attachment. It was invented sometime after World War I. It's origin is unclear but there are two main theories as two where it came from. One from the Ritz Hotel in Paris, France, and the other by Pat MacGarry at the Buck's Club in London, England. This is an Official IBA Cocktail.
